2006 post show report
The total exposition area increased indicating strong interest from
around the world in the rapidly developing oil and gas sector of
Azerbaijan . This year the exhibition assembled 360 companies from
33 countries in the Sports-Concert Complex named after Heydar Aliyev.
This represented a 15% growth in the event. Interestingly, over
25% of the exhibitors were looking to enter the market in Azerbaijan
for the first time. Pavilions for national groups were reserved
by Italy , Germany , Russia , Great Britain and Poland . In connection
with the Year of Russia in Azerbaijan the number of Russian companies
has considerably increased.
Caspian Oil and Gas 2006 hosted the world leading companies such
as MCDERMOTT; BOS SHELF; BATEMAN; CONSOLIDATED CONTRACTORS COMPANY;
TEKFEN-AZFEN; TECHNIP MARITIME OVERSEAS LTD; SIEMENS; JV AZERI MI
DRILLING FLUIDS LTD; GE OIL & GAS; HI FORCE; BAKU FLUID SYSTEM;TECHNOLOGIES
LTD; CARGOLUX AIRLINES INTERNATIONAL S.A.; CASPIAN GEOPHYSICAL JV
LLC; CASPIAN WIRELINE SERVICES INC;LUKOIL; BP; STATOIL; CONOCOPHILIPS;
ITOCHU; INPEX; TOTAL and many more.
The following state structures were also present : SOCAR, AzerChemistry,
AzNeftKimyaMash (AzOilChemistryMach), AzeriGas, Azerbaijan State
Oil Academy, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Georgian International
Oil Corporation, and Azerbaijan Confederation of Entrepreneurs .
The two day conference began on June 7 and this year it was dedicated
to the issues of energy security and transportation of Caspian Oil
to the world markets. The conference touched upon a number of important
issues such as: The strategic development of oil and gas operations
in the Caspian Sea ; Exploration and Production; Sustainable Development
through International Cooperation and Investment; Transportation
and Corporate Social Responsibility; Environment, Energy Security,
and the Structure of Attractive Investment. The conference was held
in the conference hall of the HYATT Regency hotel and attracted
around 350 senior level delegates.
The Conference was concluded with a Round Table discussion. It is
the first time that such a debate was held within the framework
of the conference. The Round Table looked into the role of government
in setting up the right frameworks for investment in Caspian Energy
Resources. This project aimed to encourage productive feedback,comment
and discussion from regional and international energy players; distilling
key messages for the regional government on how to create the best
climate for investment.
A number of official publications were issued for the exhibition
and conference, including the official exhibition catalogue, the
conference catalogue and the daily official newspaper of the exhibition
“Caspian Oil and Gas News” which reflected the events
of the exhibition and conference.
